About GWM Racing Ltd

 

GWM Racing Ltd was launched following John Grandy’s and Peter Wykeham-Martin’s involvement as race managers for the Dubois Cup in Palma in 2007. Since then the company has been in charge on the water at the Superyacht Cup in Palma 2008, Antigua Sailing Week 2009, and are currently race management consultants for Oyster Marine Ltd, running their annual regattas in the Caribbean and Mediterranean. The company also act as regatta and race management consultants for the annual Muscat (Oman) Regatta including the new 230 mile Muscat to Khasab offshore race. A new venture is the Adriatic International Regatta which will take place in Dubrovnik in May 2011.

 

John Grandy has a background in aviation and defence marketing. He is an ISAF appointed International Race Officer. Since 2001 he has been in charge of the planning and execution of numerous regattas up to world championship level including being in charge of the start for the Velux 5 Oceans single handed round the world race in Bilbao in 2006. He was Rear Commodore Yachting at the Royal Yacht Squadron from 2002-2006 during which he worked closely with sponsors, class associations and the media, and headed large race committees. John is the Chairman of Cowes Week Limited, which organises the world’s longest running and largest keelboat regatta.

 

Peter Wykeham-Martin served for 34 years in the Royal Navy, retiring in the rank of Commodore. A qualified Ocean Yachtmaster for over 30 years, he navigated the Royal Navy’s entry in the Whitbread Round the World Race in 1973 and has competed in 4 Fastnet races, the Sydney to Hobart race and numerous other offshore races. From 2001 to 2007 he was General Manager of the Royal Ocean Racing Club responsible for the Admiral’s Cup, Rolex Fastnet, and all other RORC events. With an in depth knowledge of the ISAF International IRC Rating system, he is Chairman of the International IRC Owners Association. He is a qualified IRC measurer.
