John Grandy has a background in military aviation and international defence marketing. He is an ISAF appointed International Race Officer. Since 2001 he has been in charge of the planning and execution of numerous local, national, and international regattas up to world championship level, primarily in the challenging tidal waters of the Solent. This has involved working closely with sponsors, class associations and the media, and leading large race committees. He was in charge of the start for the Velux 5 Oceans single handed round the world race in Bilbao in October 2006, and was race officer for the Dubois Cup for Dubois designed superyachts in Palma Mallorca in June 2007. He is the chairman of Cowes Week Limited, which organises the world s longest running and largest keel boat regatta.
Peter Wykeham-Martin served for 34 years in the Royal Navy, retiring in the rank of Commodore. A qualified Ocean Yachtmaster for over 30 years, he navigated the Royal Navy’s entry in the Whitbread Round the World Race in 1973 and has competed in a 4 Fastnet races, the Sydney to Hobart race, San Diego to Manzanillo race and Antigua Race Week as well as numerous shorter offshore races. He was General Manager of the Royal Ocean Racing Club for seven years responsible for the Admiral’s Cup, Rolex Fastnet, Rolex Commodores’ Cup and Sevenstar Round Britain and Ireland Race. He has comprehensive experience in balancing the needs of sponsors with the requirements of competitors. With an in depth knowledge of the ISAF International IRC Rating system, he is Vice Chairman of the GBR IRC Committee. He is a qualified IRC measurer and race officer. He was rating adviser for the 2007 Dubois Cup. He initiated the introduction of a race tracking system for the Sevenstar Round Britain and Ireland Race in 2006 which was then used as a world first on 300 yachts in the 2007 Rolex Fastnet Race.
